Our Mission
Mission Statement
Community First Credit Union exists to expand access to affordable financial services, wealth-building opportunities, and financial education, with a primary focus on empowering descendants of American Freedmen and other historically underserved communities. Through cooperative ownership, responsible lending, and community investment, the credit union seeks to help members build generational wealth, strengthen local businesses, and promote long-term economic resilience. Membership is available to all individuals who meet the approved field of membership established under the credit union’s charter.
Our Vision
To become one of the nation’s most trusted community-based financial cooperatives, recognized for exceptional member service, financial strength, innovation, and a lasting commitment to expanding economic opportunity and generational wealth.
Our Founding Principle
Financial institutions fulfill their highest purpose when they protect the resources entrusted to them while creating responsible opportunities for members to achieve lasting financial stability, independence, and prosperity.
The Mission gives the institution a reason to become financially strong. Financial strength gives the institution the ability to fulfill its Mission.
Mission, Eligibility, and the Charter
Community First’s mission focus is intended to guide outreach, financial education, community engagement, partnerships, research, financial-capability initiatives, homeownership preparation, entrepreneurship support, and other lawful mission activities. Future membership eligibility must remain governed by the approved field of membership established under the institution’s charter.
Current status: Community First Credit Union is in the organizing and charter-development stage and is not currently operating as a chartered credit union.
