Our Charter Journey

From Vision to Institution

Our Charter Journey

Community First Credit Union is currently in the organizing and charter-development stage. The institution described throughout this website represents the cooperative we are working to build; it is not yet operating as a chartered credit union.

1. Preserve the Foundation

The first responsibility is to establish and preserve the institution’s purpose: Mission, Vision, cooperative identity, Core Values, governance philosophy, financial stewardship, member-service philosophy, and long-term legacy. Community First’s Organizational Blueprint provides that foundation.

2. Build the Prospective-Member Community

A cooperative requires a real community behind it. Community First has established a campaign goal of 300+ prospective-member pledges to document interest in the proposed institution and better understand the financial needs of the community it seeks to serve.

3. Develop the Institution Responsibly

The organizing process must translate purpose into responsible institutional design. That includes governance, financial planning, capital, operations, risk management, compliance, technology, cybersecurity, lending philosophy, financial education, member experience, community development, and other systems required for a durable financial cooperative.

4. Pursue the Appropriate Charter and Approvals

Community First’s mission focus and its eventual membership eligibility are distinct. The mission may guide outreach, education, partnerships, research, financial-capability initiatives, homeownership preparation, entrepreneurship support, and other lawful activities. Actual membership eligibility must conform to the field of membership approved under the institution’s future charter and applicable law.

5. Build for Generations

The goal is not simply to receive a charter or open accounts. The deeper objective is to create an institution capable of serving people its founders will never meet. Community First is intended to combine mission with financial strength, opportunity with responsibility, innovation with security, growth with governance, and present-day ambition with long-term stewardship.

Community First Credit Union is not ours to consume. It is ours to protect, strengthen, improve, and pass forward.

Where We Are Today

We are organizing. We are building prospective-member support. We are developing the institutional foundation. We are not currently accepting deposits, opening accounts, issuing loans, or providing credit-union financial services through this website.
